The Quiet Art of Candle Making

There is something about experimenting.
About stepping into something new without needing to have it all figured out and without pressure or expectation.

Not for productivity.

Just to create and to discover more of yourself.

Sometimes, we begin to see problems as only negative.
But recently, I’ve been learning that even problems can become invitations.

My most recent challenge has been my sensitivity to artificial fragrances. They’ve worsened my allergies and impacted my health in ways I could no longer ignore.

So I decided to try something new.

I began making my own candles from beeswax.

Are they the strongest or most fragrant? Not really.
But they allow me to enjoy something I love without making me sick.

And in that process, something shifted.

Not all at once.
Not in a dramatic way.

But slowly, in the stillness, I began to notice something more.

God was there.

Not in the finished product.
Not in getting it right.
But in the process itself.

In the waiting.
In the slowing down.
In the quiet moments where my hands were busy, but my mind and heart could finally rest.

There is something sacred about being present in the middle of something simple.

About letting go of the need to perfect it…
and allowing God to meet you there instead.
