
February is here. As we enter the second month of the year, it’s natural to hit a lull in energy and motivation after the holidays fade. If we set resolutions in January, this is often when they become harder to keep. In the same way, we can experience a quiet lull in our relationship with God.
Sometimes, we can fall into the belief that faithfulness requires passion, clarity, or momentum — that we must feel inspired in order to keep showing up. When the feelings fade, we may wonder if we’re doing something wrong, or if our faith is somehow lacking.
But Scripture gently reminds us otherwise.
Lamentations 3:22–23 tells us:
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
This passage speaks to God’s faithfulness in the midst of weariness — a love that sustains even when inspiration is absent.
Faithfulness, I’m learning, is less about how much I feel — and more about choosing to stay.
God does not measure our faith by our inspiration, but by our willingness to remain.
Even on uninspired days, love stays — and so does God.
God, thank You that Your love never fails and Your mercies are new each morning. When our hearts feel tired and our faith feels quiet, help us to trust that You remain near. Teach us to rest in Your faithfulness, to be still in Your presence, and to remember that even when we feel weak, You are steady and good. Help us to stay with You, knowing that Your love endures. Amen.
